What are the major assignments I can expect my child to be completed?

There are classwork papers and notes, which if not completed during
class time, become homework and must be submitted to the teacher to
count as a grade. There are assignments to be completed at home,
such as the "Cook at Home" experience for grades 6 & 7 and the
nutrition analysis assignment, where students keep track of every food
or beverage consumed over a 3 day period and a consumer awareness
report.
Grade 8 has a variety of home projects such as a career report, worth
twice the amount a some assignments, because it culminates a three
week unit, a budgeting assignment and a parent interview assignment

Why the name change in this subject?

While I would love to answer "Beats Me!" It really is an attempt to
accurately portray the dynamic changes that have taken place within our
culture and the ways educators try to prepare students for our ever
changing world. We teach more life management skills and critical
thinking experiences in addition to the traditional home skills. Applying
the academic knowledge is a crucial part of our course.

How come highschool students don't have Home and Careers?

Due to budget cuts, the Board of Education eliminated all
non-mandated courses back in 2001. However if enough parents
petition Mr. Kazmierczak or the Board of Education or write to the Board
of Regents, anything could happen! I'd love to teach highschool.
