Welcome to the BBPHS Library page.  Mrs. Pearce, the teacher/librarian, has worked in Bayport-Blue Point since 1994.  She worked at Blue Point Elementary School for 14 years and then moved to the high school in 2008.  It gives her great pleasure to help students, teachers, administrators, and other staff with their reading, information, and research needs.  Assisting her is Mrs. Gomes who greets all with a welcoming smile and willingness to meet myriad requests each day.

Common Core Learning Standards and the AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learners drive the instruction in the library media center.  The library media center is the one place in the building where these standards can be implemented in every class.  Teachers bring their classes when they want to have students research to build and present knowledge.  The library is equiped with a SMARTboard and LCD projector, a set of 30 laptops, and 9 desktop computers allowing us to accommodate full classes, students from study hall, lunch and various other classes as well as teachers working between classes. We strive to create a welcoming environment for teaching and learning.

The two cornerstones of the library are our library catalog and the Virtual Reference Collection.  The catalog is web based and available from anywhere you have an internet connection.  In addition to books and other resources, students can find evaluated, annotated, leveled web sites as needed.  The VRC is our collection of databases.  Teachers and students use these databases when they come to the library, but parents should also be aware of how helpful they can be.  Take a look, and if you have any questions, call or email us.

In addition to providing informational resources, the library media center has the latest and greatest new reads.  Students may circulate four books at a time for up to three weeks and may renew books as necessary.  Stop by to browse or recommend titles for our next purchase.
