The steps you
must follow to complete this project: 1. Decide what geometry
vocabulary you want to investigate. You
must choice ten or more. 2. Once you have decided
what geometry vocabularies you want to investigate begin to look up the words
using Internet sources. 3. You want to locate
pictures of geometric terminology and evaluated them for what they
describe. 4. You also want to locate
explanations or definitions of these geometric terms you found. 5. You can use the following
sites to help you locate photos of these geometric terms: http://www.mathleague.com/help/geometry/geometry.htm
http://www.google.com (you can search the web or images) http://mathworld.wolfram.com/topics/Geometry.html http://www.coolmath4kids.com/geometrystuff.html
http://www.altavista.com (you can search the web or images) http://homepage.mac.com/efithian/geometry.html
http://www.yahoo.com (you can search the web or images) 6. Besides just searching for
exact geometric images (example: a picture of a triangle, a line, or a ray,
etc). Try looking for real life pictures
that incorporate geometric shapes/figures into them (example: lines in the
middle of a road, railroad tracks, a window, etc). 7. You can use the following
search engines to look for real life pictures that incorporate geometry. 8. After you have located
pictures using Internet resources, you must then use the classes’ digital
camera to find and take photos of real life images that incorporate geometry
all around us (railroad track, stop sign, etc).
9. Go out into the world
around you and take photos. 10. After taking a variety
of photos, go to the classroom computer and upload the photos on the
computer. 11. Using the photos you
located using the Internet and the photos you have taken outside the school
create a PowerPoint Presentation. 12. After you have uploaded
all the photos onto the PowerPoint software, create captions for each set of
photos. 13. The captions must
include an explanation of what is in the picture and what geometric terms are
described. You must include geometric
terminology in your explanations. 14. Compile all of the
information (photographs and captions) into a complete PowerPoint
Presentation. 15. Please be sure to
proofread and make all needed adjustments on your PowerPoint Presentation prior
to class presentation day. 16. You will be presenting
your PowerPoint Presentation to the class at the end of the week. Be prepared with all of the information you
want to present to the class. 17. Get a good nights sleep
the night before you present. 18. Remember to have fun
while collecting your photos, creating your captions, compiling your PowerPoint
Presentation, and presenting your project to the class. Enjoy
and have fun!!! |
