Standards

New York State Standards:

MST Standard 1: Analysis, Inquiry, and Design
Students will use mathemaitical analysis, scientific inquiry, and
engineering design, as appropriate, to pose questions, seek answers, and
develop solutions.
Mathematical Analysis: #3: Critical thinking skills are used in
the solution of mathematical problems.
-apply mathematical knowledge to solve real-world problems
and problems that arise from the investigation of mathematical ideas, using
representations such as pictures, charts, and tables

MST Standard 2: Information Systems
Students will access, generate, process, and transfer information using
appropriate technologies.
Intermediate #1: Information technology is used to retrieve,
process, and communicate information and as a tool to enhance learning.
-systematically obtain accurate and relevant information
pertaining to a particular topic from a range of sources, including local
and national media, libaries, museums, govermental agencies, industries, and
individuals

ELA Standard 2: Students will read, write, listen, and speak for information
and understanding.

discover relationships, concepts, and generalizations; and use knowledge
generated from oral, written, and electronically produced texts. As
speakers and writers, they will use oral and written language to acquire,
interpret, apply, and transmit information.
Listening and reading to acquire information and understanding
involves collecting data, facts, and ideas; discovering relationships,
concepts, and generalizations; and using knowledge from oral, written, and
electronic sources.
-compare and synthesize information from different sources
-relate new information to prior knowledge and experiences
Speaking and writing to acquire and transmit information requires
asking probing and clarifying questions, interpreting informtion in one's
own words, applying information from one context to another, and presenting
the information and interpretation clearly, concisely, and comprehensibly.
-produce oral and written reports on topics related to all
school subjects

Technology Standards:

Standard 3: Technology Productivity Tools: Students use technology tools to
enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.
Standard 5: Technology Research Tools: Students will use technology to
locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources.

National Standards:

Math:
Communication: Performance Indicator B: Students will communicate their
mathematical thinking coherently and clearly to peers, teachers, and others.

English/Language Arts:
Communication Skills: Performance Indicator A: Students adjust their use of
