About The Teacher

Hi! My name is Mrs. Torres. This is my 3rd year at Brinckerhoff and I am
so thrilled to be teaching here! I have had a wonderful LAZY summer where I
just relaxed and
counted down the days until school was here, once again! I think this year
will be a wonderful year, filled with laughs, love for reading, and lots of
learning!
I graduated from North Rockland High School in 1999. I always knew I wanted
to be a teacher, ever since I was a little girl. So, I continued my
education at one of the best Educational Colleges in New York State...St.
Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) in Orangeburg, NY. Soon after receiving my
Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education in 2004, I went on to the College
of New Rochelle, where I completed my Master's Degree in Literacy in 2006! In
my free time, I love to work out and I recently competed in my first
figure/bodybuilding competition in October 2008. My husband, Luis and I,
love to go see a good movie, watch World's Strongest Man, go bowling, play
mini golf, play around with our crazy Jack Russell LOKA (she's 3!), or relax
at home.

Mission For The Class

It is very important that my students come to school every day willing to
try their very best. I love to have a lot of fun and I hope you do, too!
Please understand that I take my job as a teacher very seriously and it is
important that my students take their job seriously, too! This year will be
a great success!!

My mission is to instill in the students an “I can do it” attitude and a
love for learning. They will learn that they can do anything they
set their minds too. Anything your mind can believe and conceive, it can
achieve. I will set high expectations for my students and expect them to
carry out my expectations to the best of their ability at all times.

My mission as a teacher is to help and encourage my students to have high
self-esteem and believe in themselves in whatever they do. I want my
students to leave my classroom with high self-esteem, self-confidence, and
the knowledge that I will always be there for them and willing to help them
in the future.

“True success only comes when you empower people, and then watch them
succeed.
Every day, in every way, we need to send the message that all things are
possible.”
