How should the children dress?  Layers is always the best way.  This will give the children both flexibility indoors and outdoors when they are at school. On days that are cool but good enough for outdoor recess, we will be going out at recess time, so the children should come prepared for outside conditions at this time of the year!

There is a new link for the students to practice and play games with our word lists! If you go to the links page, find and click on to www.spellingcity.com.  Lists #10 - #13 have been posted on this site.  Enjoy!

Board of Education Appreciation - Earlier in the school year, as part of Board of Education Appreciation Week, the third grades designed and wrote class thank you cards to the members of our Board of Education.  One of the cards our class sent was written to Mrs. Wendy McNamara.  Mrs. McNamara was so pleased and impressed she asked to come in to visit and thank the class for the thoughtful and good job the students did.  Mrs. McNamara visited the week before Thanksgiving, spoke to our class and answered questions.  Mrs. McNamara told us about her three sons who are students in our school district. She treated the students to a pretzel snack and asked if she could adopt our class for the school year!  She will be keeping in touch with us, and is looking forward to hearing from the children again and to visiting us from time to time.  We will be sure to let her know about the happenings in Room 33, and will look forward to another visit from Mrs. McNamara soon!

The Holiday Giving Tree
- If you have been in our school in recent days, you will notice we have a tree which is beginning to fill with mittens, hats, and socks!  We are all trying to help keep everyone warm this winter!  Families, if you would like to add an item to the tree please send that item in with your child.  There is a bucket of clothespins near the tree, and your child will be able to use a clothespin to attach the winter item they bring in.

A Special Guest in Room 33 - On Thursday, December 10, Ginamarie's sister, on a three-week leave from the U.S. Navy, came in to visit our class!  Victoria gave us an informative presentation and answered questions.  She handed out mints with U.S. Flag wrappers, and we took pictures.  What a treat this was for our class!  Thank you, Victoria, for working hard to serve and protect our country.  Stay safe!  We look forward to writing to you during your next assignment in Japan!  (Victoria is a graduate of Brinckerhoff!).

A Special Gift from the Kiwanis Club - On Friday, December 11, members of the Kiwanis Club of Beacon-Fishkill came to Brinckerhoff and gave each of the third graders a WONDERFUL student dictionary!  Not only does this book have  a comprehensive dictionary, but it also includes interesting information including facts about our 50 States, information about our U.S. government, maps, biographies of the U.S. Presidents, and pages explaining sign and Braille language.  We thank the Kiwanis Club for these generous and awesome resources!
