Welcome to my webpage! I am so looking forward to this school year and
meeting all of you. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am happily
married to my husband of almost two years. I grew up in Ulster County, about
one hour away from here. This will be my third year in the Wappingers School
District, and my first year at Fishkill Plains. Previously, I taught for two
years in Hawaii with students ages Pre-K through grade 5, in a variety of
settings, followed by one year at the Center for Discovery in Harris, New
York. In total, that is six years in special education.
I graduated from Marist College, right here in the Hudson Valley with a
degree in psychology and special education. I received my graduate degree
from Grand Canyon University where I studied literacy, Kindergarten through
adulthood.
I am full of energy on most days and love the adventures that each day can
bring. Like many of my students, I am not a morning person but I love what I
do, and that makes it worth it. I sing, dance and can get really silly. My
life's mission seems to teach all of my classes how to sing "Head, Shoulders,
Knees and Toes" in Hawaiian and Spanish as well as how to "Cotton-Eyed Joe",
dance the "Electric Slide", "Cha Cha Slide" and the "Cupid Shuffle". (I am a
big hit at weddings.) I love books, ladybugs and anything with polka-dots.
I am always willing to try something new and I look forward to all the things
that you will teach me.
Each student is to perform to the best of his or her ability. They will be
provided with a supportive, caring environment that fosters growth and
independence while in turn contributing respect, responsibility and a
positive attitude to maintain such an environment.
