How is the classroom managed for behavior?

An individual behavior plan has been implemented for our classroom. Located
on the back bulletin board, there are colored envelopes with various colored
cards in them. (Please refer to the behavior code sheet for various
meanings.) Each child has been assigned a number on their name tag located
on their desk that corresponds with the same number envelope. This plan will
be further discussed at our Parent Night. There is also a whole group
incentive program. The children work together as a team to earn letters to
my name or short phrase. When they earn all the letters, the class will vote
what they would like from the classroom reward list which was created by
them during the first week.

Can I bring in treats for birthdays?

Yes. A snack can be left in the main office on the pre-approved day by
10:30. Just let me know a day or so ahead of time. The class will celebrate
at lunch.

What if my child is going home with a friend or getting picked up?

A note is necessary if usual departure changes (parent pick-up/riding a
different bus/getting off at another bus stop) or if your child is attending
any of the after-school programs. It is also a good idea to let your child
know of any changes on that day.

Should my child bring snack?

Our class will have a brief snack in the late afternoon. Something quick,
easy and healthy would be great. Please just send water, no juice or sports
drinks.
