When is the Global Studies Regents exam administered to students?
The Global Studies Regents exam is taken during June of a student's
sophomore year.
How can I ensure that my son/daughter completes all of their homework?
Global studies homework is assigned on a weekly basis. The week's
assignments are posted on this class website and your son/daughter should
alsohave them copied in their agendas. Ask to see these assignments as they
arecompleted each day. These assignments are imperative for doing well on
topic tests and quizzes, as well as the Regents examination.
What should students prepare for when studying for chapter tests?
Chapter tests consist of chapter terms/vocabulary, past Regents exam
multiple choice questions, and short essay questions that incorporate
specific chapter objectives. Studying important terms, people, and events
will help students better prepare for these tests. Because the material is
broad and complicated, reviewing on a daily basis as opposed to just prior
to the exam, will prove to be more beneficial.
What can my son/daughter do if they do not understand topics from class?
I am available everyday in my room during block 12 to provide extra
assistance for any student needing it. It is, however, the responsibility
of the student to seek this extra help. I also encourage any question one
might have regarding specific topics to be posed in class during our
discussions so everyone might benefit.
What do I expect from a student if they are absent?
If a student is absent from class, I expect them to remain caught-up on
class assignments. It is their responsibility to obtain any papers or
handouts from the class folder that they might have missed. If a test was
given on a day that a student was absent, I expect that he/she will take it
the day they return to class or make arrangements with me to take it at
another time. Remember that being absent already puts a student behind, so
they must try and make-up the work as quickly as possible (extended absences
will be dealt with on an individual basis).
What additional materials might prove beneficial in helping students?
In addition to the issued textbook, class notes, and handouts, other review
sources and books might assist in a student better understanding the
material in this course. Check the 'Helpful Course Links' portion of this
website for postings of useful review sites and consider the review books that
are available at any retail or commercial bookstore.
How can I get in touch with you if I have questions/concerns about my student?
Although I receive calls in my classroom, the most effective way of reaching
me with any questions or concerns is through email. You may contact my
email via this class website and I will respond as quickly as possible. To
schedule a meeting please contact the guidance office.
