About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
This is my 20th year as a teacher, and sixth year as a Second Grade Teacher. In the past I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, Early Intervention- reading, and now 2nd grade, and I have loved every minute of it! I hold a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from the College of New Rochelle. I am permanently certified by NYS to teach Nursery—6th grade. I have been trained to teach reading and writing through Teachers College at Columbia University and LitLife, a nationally known literacy development organization. Like many of our families, I did not grow up in this area. I am a "transplant" from New Rochelle, NY. I moved to Patterson 27years ago when I married my husband, Richard, his three children, and their three cats. I enjoy reading, gardening, travel, history, riding my bike, and antiquing.
Mission Label:
Mission
It is a privilege for me to be your child's second grade teacher. My mission for the class is first and foremost to build a respectful and caring community of learners. With this in place all children can feel safe and welcome as learners. When a child feels safe as a learner he or she is free to take a chance and grow as a learner and increase self-confidence. The ultimate goal is that your child will love learning, love school, feel free to be curious, and confident that he or she can figure things out. I love learning and the interaction that takes place between student and teacher. I hope your child will too!
