The goal of our class is to improve reading and writing skills. As we
progress through the year, we will work collaboratively to address and
overcome areas of weakness and to build on existing strengths. Our goals
will be reached through exposure to numerous novels and varied writing
activities. We will explore what it means to be an active reader, and will
develop an approach to discussing literature which will prepare each student
to gather and organize information for the purpose of a critical written
response. The ultimate goal is to create lifelong learners with a passion
for reading. Additionally, this pursuit will prepare students to not only
meet the high standards of NY State, but transition seamlessly into a high
school setting.
