John's University for this course.

Purpose: This course is an exploration of the concepts and approaches 
central to contemporary Catholic faith and life.  It will provide students 
with a broad survey of Catholicism from Biblical, doctrinal, moral, 
liturgical, and spiritual perspectives.  It will give a deeper knowledge of 
Catholic belief and practice.  Students will be given stronger insights into 
the catechism of the Catholic Church.  In addition, students will be 
introduced to the development of theological method.  This course will set 
the groundwork for s deeper look at Church History in the second semester.  

Exams: When a chapter reading is due, a quiz will start the class. Quizzes 
are based on the required reading from the text. There will be a midterm and 
final exam.

Week 8: Fundamental Principles/Virtue and Vice

Week 9: Duties to God/Prayer

Week 10: Family and Social morality

Week 11: Sexual Morality

Week 12: Social and Economic Morality

Week 13:  Liturgy 

Week 14: Baptism and Confirmation

Week 15: Penance/Matrimony/Holy Orders 

Week 16: The Eucharist 

Week 17: Mary 

Week 18: Vatican II

Week 19: Living a Catholic Life in the Modern World
