November 24th: The rough draft for the Profiles in Courage essay is due on 
12/11. Be sure to follow the guidelines of the essay.

November 23: Quiz tomorrow on the Byzantine Empire.

November 19th: Complete the questions on the handout distributed in class. Be 
sure to print out an image of the Hagia Sophia and label it or write a 
descriptive caption as per question #4 on the primary source page. The 
assignment is to be completed on loose leaf and handed in on Monday.

October 26th: After reading the selection from the Magna Carta that is found 
in the "Handouts" section of the website, answer the following questions on 
loose leaf:

1. In the selected passages from the Magna Carta, what specific liberties 
were guaranteed by the king to his subjects?
2. What restraints were placed on the king's power by his subjects?
3. How did the Magna Carta contribute to the development of English 
parliamentary government?

This assignment is due on Wednesday, 10/28.

October 23: Write a summary and reaction of the NY Times "At War" blog that 
we discussed in class. What is your opinion of each of Obama's "four 
pillars?" Choose one "pillar" and back up your opinion with another article 
from a news source. (CNN, Fox News, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, MSNBC) Be 
sure to reference the title and author of the article in your essay. This 
assignment should be at least two sides of loose leaf and is due on Monday 
10/26.
