About MED Music

Students at MED attend music class once a week.  Here they actively

explore music in a variety of ways: singing, dancing, listening, improvising, composing,
playing classroom instruments, and reading rhythms
and pitches.
Our program draws upon the pedagogies of Orff, Kodaly, and

Gordon and aims to create well-rounded and enthusiastic musicians.

Additionally, fourth graders may choose to participate in chorus, nicknamed the “Chatham Canaries”.
The Canaries perform a traditional winter concert and
perform in a spring musical.
We are proud that our program has grown to about
90% voluntary participation!

I welcome you to listen to some of our recordings or read about our

curriculum, report card, and upcoming events.  Enjoy!
