FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions
of students and parents.
  1. What is co-teaching?

What is co-teaching?

Co-teaching is two or more people sharing responsibility for
teaching some or all of the students assigned to a classroom. It
involves planning, instruction, modifications of
instruction/materials and evaluation.
For the 2009-2010 school year, I will be co-teaching 6th grade
science with Mrs. Ladd and 6th grade social studies with Mrs.
Miller. This will be my 5th year co-teaching. We are all
aware of the many different learning styles found within our
classrooms. We try to use a variety of techniques and tools to
help students successfully complete 6th grade.

Many of the science assignments are lab based and allow the
students opportunities to work in groups and be hands-on
learners. When we are not doing labs, we try to vary our methods
of presenting new material.
The use of the Smartboard and/or proxima is a wonderful tool to
motivate students and help them attend. It allows the students to
become interactive learners. We are
able to present class notes using the board, as well as watch
downloads.

Our social studies textbook offers another way to present
material. Using the smartboard/proxima, we are able to display it
electronically. It also will read it aloud to the students. Many
students enjoy this presentation of the textbook.

As the year progresses, I will be putting links to the
science notes on my website. I have found that many times
students will lose important notes necessary for studying, or
have difficulty reading their handwriting. I hope this is helpful
for parents and students alike. This will allow easy access to
the notes and minimize the running around that usually
occurs before a test or quiz.
