About me

I graduated from Chatham High School in 1997. I then went to SUNY Geneseo
for my undergraduate studies. I majored in both elementary and special
education. After graduating from Geneseo in 2001, I went on to get my
Master's degree. I enrolled in SUNY Albany and completed their reading
program in 2003 with a degree as a reading specialist. I was hired by
Chatham Central School to substitute while working on my degree. It was a
self-contained 4th grade classroom in the elementary school.

After substituting, I began working at Early Childhood Learning Center in
Catskill as a special education teacher for preschoolers. I did this for two
years and really enjoyed working with young children. In 2004, there was an
opportunity to work for Chatham again. I applied for a middle school
position as a 6th grade special education teacher and that is where I
currently am today. This will be my 6th year at the Chatham Middle School. I
am very excited to continue working with the 6th grade team.

I not only teach special class math and language arts, but I also co-teach
science and social studies. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students.
The goal is for the class to view both of us as their teachers. I feel co-
teaching opens up so many possibilities within the classroom and allows for
all different learning to take place.

In addition to teaching, there are many other things I love to do. I enjoy
sports and actively participate when I can. My husband and I take many trips
to Vermont to snowboard. I also love playing tennis and bike riding. I try
to go camping with my family each year in the Adirondacks as well. I also
have two crazy pugs, Max and Rocco, who keep me busy. They love to take
walks in town. I try to read as much as I can and enjoy childrens' books as
much as novels. My husband and I both grew up in the area and are very happy
to be living here as adults. It is nice to see students outside of school
and be a part of the community.
