Welcome to Kindergarten!!!!!We have started our nonfiction unit in reading and writing! During reading time we have been learning about the text features in nonfiction books. We have learned that some nonfiction books have a table of contents, headings, charts, maps, diagrams and a glossary! The children LOVE learning facts from nonfiction books. When reading with your child at home remind them to use their reading strategies when coming across an unknown word. Reading Strategies: Lips the Fish, Eagle Eyes, Stretchy Snake, Chunky Monkey and Skippy Kangaroo.Happy Reading!During writing time we are writing How-To's! It is super fun to try and teach others how to do something! Discuss some topic ideas at home with your child.
