Do the children go outside for recess?

Yes, studies have shown that movement and play are very important
for a
child's physical and mental development. Weather permitting, we
will be
outside every day so it is necessary that children come prepared
with hats,
mittens, boots, etc. when needed. Snowpants can be left in the
lockers for
the cold weather months. We also encourage girls to wear shorts
under their
jumpers so they can be active on the playground.

What is your classroom routine?

We plan our language arts activities in the morning when the
children are
fresh. We have reading groups, free choice reading, and writing
workshop
before lunch. In the afternoon we cover math, social studies or
science and religion.
Fridays we have group center time with both classes to work on
cooperation, negotiation, and problem solving skills.

You are welcome to bring in a treat to celebrate your child's
birthday. We encourage healthy snacks.

What is your homework policy?

Homework will be assigned almost daily. Please check the
assignment notebooks each night and sign it before returning it
to school the next morning. If your child has homework specific
to him/her, it may not be listed in the notebook. Please also
check their take home folder.
