What is the Rainbow Team?
Miss Kashuba, Mr, Gardner, Mrs. Pawlowich and their students make up the
Rainbow Team. The Rainbow Team is a 2 year multi-age program. The children
enter 2nd grade with Mrs. Pawlowich as their homeroom teach and the next year
the class automatically moves to Mr. Garnder’s 3rd grade.
Some Advantages of multi-age education are:
1)Children are expected and encouraged to learn at different levels and
rates.
2)Multi-age instruction promotes cooperative learning. Older children
gain self-esteem by acting as role models for younger learner. Younger
learners benefit from exposure to “experienced” students.
Providing appropriate instruction for all of the students in a multi-age
learning environment can be and is very challenging and time consuming. One
way for us to meet these challenges and benefit out students is to team
teach. Some of the benefits of team teaching are:
1)We work together and share our tasks.
2)We use our individual strengths and talents to provide a quality
program.
3)We are able to give the students more individualized attention and
help.
4)We are able to group and regroup the children to better meet their
needs.
The Rainbow Team has been in existence since 1994. We enjoy “Learning
and Growing Together!"!”
