Rules and Consequences

Class Rules

  1. Everyone should learn.
•Listen to the teachers, principal, and eachother.
•Work quietly so everyone can learn.
  2. Think before you act.
•Ask yourself: “Am I keeping myself and others safe?” or “Will this
    make other people feel good?”
  3. Be Respectful and Caring all the time.
•If you have a problem, then use your words. Try to talk it out
first. If that doesn’t work then tell the teacher. Some problems are solved
    with a compromise.
•Remember that you represent Mrs. Benjamin’s class and Duanesburg
    Elementary School everywhere you go.
  4. Do Your Best.

Colored Card Behavior Plan

Each day you will start the day with a green card. If you make good choices you can earn a blue card,
or even a white card. Some days you will make a mistake and break a school or classroom rule. If you
do, you will change your card to yellow, orange, or even red. Everyone starts the day with a green card,
no matter what happened the day before! You control what color your card is. You can always earn a
positive card change by following directions, working hard, and being respectful.

Each card has a reward or consequence associated with it.
White Card: 3 stamps toward a pick from the prize pot.
Blue Card: 2 stamps toward a prize.
Green Card: 1 stamp toward a prize.
Yellow Card: 0 stamps toward a reward.
Orange Card: Sit out for 1/2 of recess.
Red Card: Sit out for 1 full recess. A note or call home.

Severely inappropriate behaviors can result in changing immediately to red or a disciplinary referral to the office.
