New York's math standards for each grade guide our daily lessons. We use the same sequence of units and lessons as most of the other schools in Dutchess County.
The state conducts assessments in several areas each school year starting in the 3rd grade. This year's math assessments are planned for May. This is a change from past years when the assessments were given in March. Last year's assessments and answer keys are available for viewing on the state's
website. Scoring is on a scale of 1 to 4. A score of four is considered exemplary. A score of three indicates the student has demonstrated adequate knowledge of grade level material. A score of two or one indicates the student has not demonstrated what the state expects and the student will be enrolled in an AIS (academic intervention services) program the following school year.
Please feel free to ask Mrs. Mathers questions or try browsing the
website the state has set up: http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/3-8/home.html
