Hello Second Graders! One of our first few projects of 2nd grade is to make an accordion book with pockets for small journals to write and draw about special artists. We wove a beautiful cover using strips of paper for the covers. This book will be used with websites too. We also learned all about the famous artist, Paul Klee who made paintings with line drawings and tints! We learned how to mix white with a color to paint a wonderful, shape-filled self-portrait. Second grade is doing a year long project of sketchbook/journal keeping. We will all be working with the technology in the art room using the computer, the 27" monitor, the digital camera, the printer, and the Internet to work in these sketchbooks to learn all about our new helping artists and cultures. We will be learning all about such artists as Claude Monet and his gardens at Giverny, France. Monet's waterlilies and Japanese bridge will be the focus of our project. (This project is tentative due to time and some bigger projects I want to do!) There will be a lot more fun projects along the year!
