The Learning Improvement Team (LIT) at Evans is a group of staff members who meet to review the progress of individual students on an as needed basis. Team members may vary depending upon the situation of the student being reviewed. Members often include the student's classroom teacher, the principal, the school psychologist, reading specialist, and the academic intervention teacher. Additional members may include the speech therapist, occupational therapist, school social worker, or school nurse. The Learning Improvement Team suggests interventions that may enhance a child's academic, social or behavioral development. The focus is on assessing what the student knows and can do rather than on weaknesses. Interventions are suggested that have been shown by teacher experience to have success. Strategies are implemented to ensure that interventions are followed consistently and accurately. Progress is monitored to determine the student's response to the intervention.
