Check your child's folders and daily planners daily. The assignments change
daily. You will usually find a math sheet. I know your time at home is precious and limited. Each night
your children will have a math worksheet to complete. The math has been reviewed in class, so they
should be able to accomplish it independently.
Studies show that Third graders benefit from an hour of independent reading daily. They will
participate in part of this at school, but please consider having
your child read for 20-30 minutes either alone, or with you each night.
Multiplication is a big part of 3rd grad. Multiplication flashcards and online games are
great ways of obtaining these skills. Try to practice 5-10 minutes each night before bed.
Everyone is different, but the average third grader should do 30 minutes of homework each night. Math
along with reading nightly, and multiplication flashcards, should help build a solid foundation and link
between home and school.
