Red Ribbon Week

2006-07 RED RIBBON WEEK

Each year, schools across the nation celebrate “Red Ribbon Week” which is
dedicated to bringing the anti-drug message to children. As such, we have
many activities planned for the week that foster self-esteem, good choices
and family bonding. Our school is celebrating the week from Monday, October
23 through Friday, October 27 and the activities scheduled are as follows:

Monday, October 23 – Red Ribbon Week Rally
Wear Red Day. All students will be given a red ribbon to be worn during the
week.
The 5th grade chorus will present a “kick-off pep rally”.

Tuesday, October 24 – Hats On, Drugs Off
Everyone wears hats.

Wednesday, October 25 – United We Stand In a Drug Free Land
Everyone wears red, white and blue.

Thursday, October 26 – Team Up Against Drugs
Everyone wears “team logo” clothing. Buddy classes prepare bags and “Drug
Free” banners for Red Ribbon Parade.

Friday, October 27 – Red Ribbon Parade
Students, staff and parents are encouraged to dress up as their favorite
hero, a storybook character, or in a UFO outfit (Unbelievably Funny Outfit)
that day. Students in grades AM Kindergarten students and grades 1 through 5
will walk through the village visiting various businesses wearing their
costume beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. PM Kindergarten classes and
their buddy classes will walk through the village visiting various businesses
wearing their costume beginning at approximately 2:00 p.m. Juice and cupcakes
will be served following the parade, compliments of the PTA. Parents often
join the parade or watch from a spot along the parade route.

We welcome you to join us during these activities.
