Reading: Guided reading is in full swing. Your child should be bringing home the books that he or she read during guided reading. Please read the book with your child and send it back to school. Daily 5: While I am reading with small groups, your child is working on the 3 of the 5 parts of the Daily 5. The Daily 5 includes: Independent Reading, Buddy Reading, Listening to Reading, Word Work, and Writing. Math: We will be starting Topic 4. Topic 4 covers number concepts including tens and ones, odd and even numbers, and number words. Science: We are continuing to work on using a ruler and a scale. Writing: We will begin writing How-To books. Fundations: We are working on Unit 5 (multi-syllabic words).
