Reading: Guided reading has begun. Your child should be bringing home the
books that he or she read during guided reading. Please read the book with
your child and send it back to school. We are also working in centers.
Centers reinforce skills that have already been taught.
Math: We are studying Topic 2. This chapter covers addition strategies. By
mid-October we will be covering Topic 3 which is subtraction strategies.
Science: We will begin Unit 1. This unit covers tools and measurement.
Social Studies: We are finishing the first unit - Active Citizenship.
Fundations: We will be working on Unit 2 - glued sounds and bonus letters.
Writing: We will practice writing sentences. We are also responding to
literature and learning how to write a paragraph.
