This will be my ninth wonderful year at Fishkill Elem. I taught 3rd
grade my first five years and one year of fourth grade. This is my 3rd
year back in third grade since teaching 4th grade. In addition to
teaching during the regular school day I join Mrs. Bergholtz and Mr. Gertler
in running the intramurals for our school. In the past I have done
basketball intramurals for 4th and 5th graders and Kickball for 5th graders.
As most of you already know I also work part time at the Outback
Steakhouse in Wappingers. I have worked there on and off for more than eight
years performing a variety of jobs.
I have been a longtime Hudson Valley resident and grew up going through
the Wappingers School district. I graduated from Ketcham High School in 1992
and then Dutchess Comm. College in 1995. I got my education degree in 2000
from Mount Saint Mary College.I received my Master's Degree in 2003 from
Mercy College. I recieved my degree in Reading and I am state certified as a
Reading Specialist.
Mentioning Reading Specialists, my wife also teaches at Wappingers as
one of the district's 5 Literacy Coaches. We have a two year old
daughter,Rachel Lynn Prongay. My wife and I welcomed her on September 6,
2006. We live in Hyde Park and love the daily commute to Fishkill up and
down Route 9.(Ha Ha) We met at school in 2001 and married on July 17, 2004.
Besides teaching elementary school children, my wife and I have 8 nieces and
nephews between the ages of 4 and 8, so we have had some practice with
children as we embark on parenthood.
As you may or may not know, sports is a big part of my life. I am doing
my best to make sure that my daughter, nieces, and nephews become New York
Giants, Mets, Rangers, and Knicks fans. No, Yankee fans are not an option!!
