
CARDBOARD BOAT RACE
All middle school students are invited to participate in a CARDBOARD BOAT RACE. Students will design and construct a boat made out of cardboard that they will put into the pool. Students will then get into their boat and race across the pool. Teams will consist of a mixture of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Students will build their boats after school (10th period). This is NOT a class, it is an after school program. The race is scheduled for May 21st in the afternoon. Parents and guests are invited to attend and watch the action.
TECH WARS
All 8th grade and Principles of Engineering students are invited to participate in TECH WARS. This event in for all of western New York school districts. It will be held on May 23rd at Erie Community College. This will be an after school activity - 2:25 to 3:00. Students in the middle school may design and build either a Mouse Trap Powered Vehicle, a Catapult, or a Bridge. High school students will be able to compete in a Habitat for Humanity house design, a Catapult contest, a Bridge contest, or a CO2 Racer contest.
All contests will take place on the 23rd at ECC. Students must complete their projects prior to the competition. See Mr. Haase for a complete set of criteria and constraints for each competition.
This competition is taking place a day we do not have school. Therefore, you must be dedicated and committed to participating in your chosen event. There is no required cost to the students for this competition.
