Of historical interest, the first naval skirmish in the War of 1812 began in Lake Erie near the mouth of the Canadaway Creek, which is now within the boundaries of the town of Dunkirk. A small marker commemorating the event sits near the intersection of Route 5 and Temple Street. (by 1/4/13) GET A PICTURE OF YOURSELF NEXT TO THE WAR OF 1812 SIGN, AND EMAIL IT TO ME OR PRINT IT/BRING IT IN TO ME....5 points!

This helps your AR point total AND your S.S. average!
Stay 10th Period to read short books on Mexico.
Then take the AR test for each book.
This will count for AR as well as Social Studies!

Have your picture taken with the
Cushing brothers' monuments
(2 points each/5 points for both):
Alonzo Cushing is buried in West Point, but in June 2006,
a monument featuring his picture and biographical information
was built by students at Fredonia High School in the southwest
corner of Pioneer Cemetery.
William Cushing was honored in the 1860s with a monument
next to Fredonia’s Village Hall.
