Happy Spring!
I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and found sometime to relax. Unfortunately, the students are returning to school just in time for state testing. Luckily, second graders don't have to endure this testing until they are in third grade. However, your child doesn't escape this rigorous testing, because next week we will be taking our Scott Foresman Benchmark test. With that being said, we will not have our regular spelling next week. Therefore, your child will not be coming home with a spelling packet.
I would also like to take a minute and remind you to fill out the SchoolMall postcards. It will cost you nothing, but it will help our school greatly to earn some extra money. Your child will also receive a pretty cool prize just for returning the completed postcards. We have been asked to have these all returned by Wednesday, April 25th. Thanks for your support!
We will also be celebrating "Puddle Day" here at school on Thursday, April 26th. This is a special day to honor a little boy who was killed by a drunk driver. An activity he loved was jumping in puddles. This will help to remind all of us how lucky we are to enjoy the simple things in life. All you need to do is send your child to school with boots on this day.
One last note, our snack cupboard is FULL! We won a special prize from the PTA for all of the Box Tops that you have sent in, so keeping cutting those Box Tops. We received 3 giant snack containers, so we should be all set for the remainder of the school year. Thank you to all the parent who have sent in snacks to keep our students' tummies full.
