Dear Parents,
     Following is the information regarding our Field Trip to the Audubon Center & Sanctuary on Tuesday, June 4th.  Attached you will also find the permission slip that needs to be signed in order for your child to attend.  There is also a form for you to sign if you are planning on joining us.  This form lets us know how many adults to expect and also gives us an idea of how many children will be returning with us on the bus.  If you have any questions about the information on these forms, please feel free to contact me via email.
                                  INFORMATION FOR THE AUDUBON FIELD TRIP
          :  Please return the attached permission slip and Chaperon information slip, by Wednesday, May 29th.
          :  All of the children, from both the AM and PM class, need to be in school by 8:45 the morning of the field trip.  It  will be VERY hectic on that morning and directions will need to be reviewed before we leave on our trip.  We will have to leave the school no later than 9:00. 
          :  We will arrive at the Audubon Society around 10:00.  At this time the staff at the Audubon will take the lunches and divide us into several groups.  You will be staying with your child during the entire field trip.  Mrs. Murphy and I will go along with the children whose parents are not able to attend.
         :  Since this will be an outdoor, hiking event, please remember to dress your child accordingly.  Sneakers are required as we will be doing some hiking in fields, as well as in the woods.  We are going rain or shine so also please keep this in mind.  In the past, the mornings have been a little on the cool side, however, depending on the forecast for that day, it could get warmer as the day goes on.  A light jacket may be a good idea to bring along.  Please apply any sunscreen and/or bug spray before you leave home.  If you would like to bring some along, that is also fine.  Please remember that we cannot apply either of these products on the children, without the permission of the parents.  
          :  Lunch will be around 11:30 and end at around 12:00.  We all will be eating together at the picnic tables located at the back of the Audubon building.  Your group leader will bring you back when it is time to eat.  Bag lunches are strongly encouraged.  We bring the garbage, that cannot be composted or recycled, back to school.  A bag lunch and drink will need to be provided for all members of your family that will be joining us.  
          :  At 12:45 we will be boarding the buses for our return trip back to school.  You may sign your child out at this time if you are planning on taking him/her home with you.  Between 12:00 and 12:30 we take a short hike with both classes.  Between 12:30 and 12:45 we get everyone ready to leave the Audubon.  If you plan on buying anything at the gift shop, please do so after 12:30 when you have signed your child out.  If you are unable to attend, please do not send any money with your child.  We do not have time to take children to the gift shop.  Pick up at the school will be at 1:45.  If your child will be going to Wrap-around once we get back to school, please note that on the permission slip.
     OK, I think that is about everything.  I will send another reminder the day before our trip.  Once again, please let me know if you have any questions.  This is always a wonderful experience for everyone, especially, of course, for the children.  We always see several different animals.  Snakes are always a highlight, as is Liberty, the Bald Eagle.
