Hi, my name is the Keel-Billed Toucan.

Welcome to the Tropical Rain Forest.

Now that you have reached your destination,your challenge will consist of becoming a detective in a research group to discover the answers to important questions about the Tropical Rain Forest. You will be assigned a specific job to collect data on one question regarding the animals, plants, products, weather, or conservation of the Rain Forest.

When your group has completed their detective work, you will be responsible to museum your information.As Rain Forest reporters, you will share your data with the entire class.

Each of you will be assigned a different group to research a topic. Then you will explore different internet sites to answer one specific question using details.

The group roles and questions are as follows:

EXPLORERS: Where is the Tropical Rain Forest located? Hint: The Tropical Rain Forest is found in many places in the World. Use the names of the continents on the x axis and the number of Tropical Rain forests in each continent on the y axis.

BOTANISTS: What kinds of plants are in the Tropical Rain Forest? Hint: Use the layers of the rain forest for the x axis and the number of types of plants you find in each layer for the y axis.

BIOLOGISTS: What animals live in the Tropical Rain Forest? Hint: Use the layers of the rain forest for the x axis and the number of types of animals you find in each layer for the y axis.

ENVIRONMENTALISTS: What valuable products do we get from the Tropical Rain Forest? Hint: Use the types of products as the x axis and the number of each type of product on the y axis.

METEOROLOGISTS: Describe the weather in the Tropical Rain Forest. Hint: You may need more than one graph to describe all of the elements of weather.

ACTIVISTS: What can you do to convince people to help save the Tropical Rain Forest? Hint: You can write a letter, make a poster, create a brochure.
