Library Guidelines


When can I take out books from the library?
All students are permitted to select library materials each time his/her class visits the Glen Head School library.
Students are also welcome to visit the library for book exchange from 8:25 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.

When do I have to return the books to the library?
A student's library materials are to be returned during the student's next library class or during flexible library times.  Students should bring their library materials to school on the day they have library so new selections can be made. Students are allowed to renew at the end of a loan period.
 
How many books am I allowed to take out? 

Students are allowed to borrow as follows:
 

• Kindergarten - one book (6 days)

 

• 1st Grade - two books (6 days)

 

• 2nd Grade - two books and/or one other item (12 days)

 

• 3rd Grade - three books and/or one other item (12 days)

 

• 4th Grade - four books and/or one other item (12 days)

 

• 5th Grade - five books and/or one other item (12 days)

 

With special permission, students may borrow Playaways or additional library materials for research projects.
 
What if I don't return a book on time? 
If a student's library materials are overdue, no further borrowing will be allowed until the material is returned. We will also send notices to remind you if a book is late.
 
What if I lost or damaged a library book?
Don't be afraid to tell us if you lost or damaged a book.  We can work together to fix it or find it!
Lost or damaged books requiring replacement need to be paid for to maintain uninterrupted borrowing privilege
