Computer Curriculum

   Keyboarding is taught to all students in Grades 
Kindergarten through 8th in accordance with the 
capability of the particular age level.

   Word processing is begun in Grade 1 with students
typing simple sentences using class spelling words.
Microsoft Scholastic Keys is used by students in the
primary grades. This is a version of Microsoft Office
for young children. By Grade 3, students write and
illustrate their own poems and begin typing small book
reports.

   Research skills are introduced to students beginning
in Grade 3. Students are encouraged to research material
in library books, CD Rom encyclopedias, and finally on
the Internet. Scavenger hunts correlating with Social
Studies and Language Arts topics are prepared for
students.

   Powerpoint projects are begun in Grade 4 and become
more detailed as students advance in the grades.
Students in primary grades use the Kid Pix program to
prepare slides. They are also introduced to Powerpoint
by using Microsoft Scholastic Keys.

   Microsoft Excel is introduced to students in
Grades 7 and 8. Younger students are taught how to
make simple charts.
