What has Room 11 been up to?Writing- The children will soon be entering the world of nonfiction writing. We will first explore nonfiction texts and learn all about how they are organized. Then we will think about what we are "experts" on. WE will use what we know and do some research to help us write a nonfiction piece.Reading- It is important to read fluently (smoothly). Fluent reading will help to strengthen our comprehension. Through Reader's Theater and several mini lessons on fluency and expression we will become "smooth readers"!Math- Chapter 4 will focus on number order. This includes greater than and less than, patterns and using the number grid.Science / Social Studies- We will be switching our focus to social studies for the next few weeks. The unit will cover a simple economic overview of a community. We will discuss needs and wants, making and selling goods and community needs and workers. Language Arts- A noun is a person, place or thing. Every sentence contains a noun. Please remember to have your child read for at least 15 minutes each night!
