Bag O' Facts Reading Project
The students have recently completed the
book The Matchlock Gun by Walter D.
Edmonds. This book was a story that took
place in Guilderland NY during the French
and Indian War. The students were asked to
search through the book for items that they
believed had some significance to the plot or
the setting of the book. |

|

|
After choosing the items, they wrote the item
on a card and then folded the card in half. In
the inside they would write out why they chose
the item and what it's significance was to the
story. |
Then they placed the cards into a bag with a
chart and gave their bag to another group. |

|

|
Each group reads the other group's cards and
tries to guess why they chose that object. They
record their guesses on a chart and award
themselves points if they chose the same
reason as authors of the card. |
If a group chooses the same reason, they earn a
point. The students can read as many bags as
they want, so as to earn as many points as
possible. |

|

|
The group that earns the most points wins the
Bag O' Facts game |

Mrs. King's 2nd Grade Class
We will be visiting Mrs. King's Second grade
class to work with them on creative writing
throughout the school year. Mrs. Walker and
Mrs. King will be guiding the students in how to
discover their voices as authors and providing
students with skills and strategies to develop
and improve their writing abilities. |
