COOPERSTOWN HERE WE COME!
Our trip to the Farmer's Museum will be taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 4th. We will be leaving the
building at 9:15 and returning before the normal dismissal time of 3:00. Students are asked to bring
a bag lunch and a drink (no glass or cans please), as well as appropriate clothing for the weather and
good sturdy shoes for walking. We will be participating in hands on activities in the morning as well
as a tour of the museum and a ride on the NYS carousel. Students will NOT need to be picked up as
they will take their normal bus route home. We will not be doing any shopping due to time
constraints but all students will be able to bring home the crafts that they make in their workshops.
I will be sure to have a camera handy and have photos and information to put on our class news
page.
HOMEWORK:
Homework Sheets were handed out and began on Monday September 14th. Students receive a
sticker for each day that they complete all of their homework. If homework is not completed,
students
will record the missing assignment on their sheet. Sheets must be signed every Friday by parents as
a
way to keep you informed of the completed or missing assignments. After 4 weeks, all students who
receive the required amount of stickers, will take part in an class selected event. Please encourage
your
child to do their best to complete all assignments each night. There is a column for comments on
the
sheets so please feel free to communicate any information that you think I may need to know as I
look
at the sheet every day.
LINKS PAGE:
I keep a series of links to educational and fun sites that students can access from home. Some of
these
sites allow students to practice basic skills that will help them stay strong in the content areas.
There are also links to subjects that we are studying in class and we are using as resources for
research
we are doing on class projects. I welcome you to visit these sites and encourage your child to use
them
to sharpen their skills.
FALL CONFERENCES:
I will be sending home each families assigned conference time that people signed up for on back to
school night. If you were not in attendance I have given you a date and time that was available. I
will
provide dates/times that are still available in case you are not able to attend on the date I assigned
you.
All conferences will begin on November 3rd.
HAUNTED HOUSE:
We will be creating a haunted house for the students in the building to tour. This event is based
upon
a story which we create in class and then act out within our haunted house. If you have any materials
or
skills which you believe could be used for this purpose please let me know. And of course we will
invite
all of you in that day for your own private tour!
