About The Teacher

Hello to all of my new students at Jefferson!! To tell you a little bit about myself, I spent 14 years
teaching 6th grade here at Schalmont in the Middle School. I taught on a 2,3,4 and 5
person team. I taught 5th grade at Woestina for 2 years and now I am teaching at
Jefferson. I spend a good deal of my time outside of school reading, writing, doing lawn work, watching
the Mets (boohoo my poor Mets!) and Duke (go Devils!) and laughing as often as possible. Yes its true,
we will be the class that often does kooky things like singing, dancing, making haunted houses and
practicing our kickball skills for the big tournament in the spring! You will also be the class that works
hard, leans many things and understands how important it is to like ourselves as well as those around
us. I will never ask you to do more than you are capable of but I will make sure that you challenge
yourselves to be all that you can be.

My goals for 5th grade

At the beginning of the school year my goals for the class are going to be very
simple. We are going to work on learning how to set our own goals and
discuss strategies that will help us all achieve them. As the year progresses
we will strive to become more independent learners and to rely on ourselves
and each other for encouragement and guidance. This year will be different
than other years because we have to begin to prepare for the Middle School
and this will require each of you to assume more responsibility for your day to day
assignments as well as keeping track of those assignments and completing them
to the best of your ability. If you are beginning to panic as you read this,
DON"T!!! It is my goal for myself to help you achieve all that you are capable of,
provide a safe environment for you to take chances, and to guide you
during all of these activities so that we can all grow together as a class.
I promise you that you will smile often during the course of a day and that
I will entertain, surprise and enlighten you all year long!! (Not to
mention make you laugh at every chance I get!)
