Originally from Puerto Rico, I came to the United States as a teenager
and learned English, very much the same way that my students are now
learning Spanish. I attended and graduated from Fordham University, Rose
Hill Campus with a BS in Business Management.
I pursued a career in Travel and Tourism with major Travel Agencies,
airlines, cruiselines. I also taught in Miami-Dade Community College where
I discovered my love for teaching.
I then moved to New York and began my post-baccalaureatte degree in
Secondary Education in Spanish from SUNY New Paltz where I graduated as Suma
Cum Laude. I also have a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from
Western Connecticut University from which I also graduated as Summa Cum
Laude.
I strongly believe that all students are capable of learning and want to
learn. Every student deserves the opportunity to achieve his/her highest
potential. I strive to challenge my students to achieve this goal while
providing, a fair, friendly, and professional environment for all.
I'm always looking for new innovative ways to present my lessons. Hence, I
try to incorporate the use of technology in class on a regular basis. This
is usually by way of audio-visual materials, e-mail with other countries,
PowerPoint presentations, the use of SMARTboard technology, and video
conferences, blogs and podcasts. I encourage all parents to contact me if they have any question
or if they have a new idea that may be of interest to my students.
