Here are some tips for completing the Independent Reading Assignment!
First! You must read your book. As you are reading, remember that your
writing will consist of journal entries which show-case the events in the
story through the eyes of a friend of either the protagonist or the
antagonist! You are responsible for at least ten journal entries that span
the events you choose from the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Make
sure to complete the journal in the following format:
This is the heading of each page.
Event: _______________________________________________________________
Element included: ____________________________________________________
Time period (beginning, middle, or end of story): ___________________
Entry:
Entry will be typed and double-spaced, probably about 3/4 of a page.
Also, do not forget that you will also be writing two or three "notes," "e-
mails," or "dialogue" from a phone conversation in which you offer advice, or
console, or chat with your "friend."
Please access the actual assignment on the web-page to ensure understanding
of what is expected! Have fun with it, and be creative. Remember EFFORT
works to your benefit, as lack of effort does not!!! The more authentic (yet
true to the story line) the better!
