Welcome back to the new school year!
In Reading this year we continue with the Wilson Reading Program. In
addition we will be reading "TJ Westin - Man of the House". This will have
vocabulary, comprehension, and writing assignments.
Math is separated into basic skills and life skills math. Each student is
given a packet of work with basic skills at their own level. We also do life
skills math with calculators. We are currently doing Supermarket Math.
ELA is grammar and writing. First we go over tools for good writing, like
grammar, punctuation, descriptive words, then we incorporate that into a
writing assignment.
We are splitting the week doing Social Studies and Science. This year we are
studying New York. We have already started using Powermedia Plus to actually
visit NYC! We are currently studying the Revolutionary War. For Science we
are studying Physical Science. We are currently doing energy.
Life Skills is about how to deal with peer pressure.
They have Health this year with Mrs. Kneifel.
They have homework almost every night; either Math or Reading. It will
always be in their folders.
