BEHAVIOR CODE

Code of Behavior/Student Contract
We want your upcoming tour to be an educational adventure full of
opportunities to learn and have fun. You will be sharing once-in-a-lifetime
experiences with the people with whom you will be traveling. This unique
exchange will lend different perspectives on your individual view of the
world as well as enable you to enjoy the camaraderie which develops when a
group travels together. The success of your tour depends on your ability to
master the art of traveling in a group setting. Developing positive
attitudes and cultivating behaviors which create harmony within the groups
will produce a more enjoyable tour.

For your own protection and to help you benefit most from your tour, we have
developed this Student Code of Behavior: specific “do’s” and “don’ts.”
These behavioral requirements reflect a very high standard of conduct. You
are expected to observe them at all times, with standards equally as high.
Each student wishing to participate in the tour must read and understand this
Student Code of Behavior, sign it, and have his/her parents sign it.

Do’s

1. Do consult the Bulletin Board which your tour director will post in the
lobby of your hotel each morning for your daily schedule of activities.
2. Do participate in all planned tour activities such as sightseeing tours,
meals, and evening events. These are mandatory, and they constitute
the trip for which you have paid. The only acceptable excuse for absence is
illness. Such an absence must be approved by your teacher.
3. Do arrive on time for all tour activities. Lateness will cause everyone
in the group to miss some of the planned activities.
4. Do retire to your assigned hotel room at the curfew time. Room checks
will be made every night and curfew time will be strictly enforced. In-
Room/QUIET HOURS curfew is 11:00. There may be times that our group activity
runs past 11 p.m. In this case, when we return to the hotel, the curfew is
in effect, and you must remain in your own room.
5. Do keep yourself and your belongings neat and orderly. Make a special
effort to keep your hotel room and our tour bus NEAT and CLEAN. This is for
everyone’s benefit, comfort, and enjoyment!
6. Do pay for phone calls and other incidental personal expenses on the
evening prior to departure from the hotel.
7. Do take care of your personal belongings. Neither your teachers nor the
touring company will be held responsible if any of these are lost or
misplaced. The recovery of any such items will be the responsibility of and
at the expense of the participant.
8. Do show consideration and respect for your fellow travelers, teachers, and
your tour director, as well as other individuals you	may encounter as you
travel.
9. Do use good judgment and obey the laws. Serious offenses will result in
immediate dismissal from the tour and premature return home.
10. Do LISTEN CAREFULLY to all chaperones, your Tour Director, and other
guides, teachers, and parents who may be on the tour.
11. Do make sure that you ALWAYS HAVE THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE HOTEL WITH
YOU, AS WELL AS MRS. MACE’S INTERNATIONAL CELL PHONE NUMBER (FOR EMERGENCY
PURPOSES ONLY).

Don’ts

1. Do not change your assigned hotel room. For your own protection, always
lock your hotel room at all times.
2. Do not open the door to your hotel room unless you know the person.
Always call a chaperone before opening the door at the hotel for someone you
do not know.
3. Do not leave the tour group individually for any reason whatsoever.
Students should always be in groups of 3 and 4 during free time activities.
All free-time activities must be accompanied by an adult.
4. Do not go out at night unless accompanied by an adult from your group.
5. Do not leave your hotel room for any reason whatsoever once bed check has
been conducted by your teachers. Please note that the hotel staff will
notify your teacher if there is any infraction of this rule.
6. Do not engage in inappropriate behavior in hotels, such as running the
hallways, slamming doors, loud shouting, etc. The law abroad protects the
rights of any individual to a restful night’s sleep and the police will
enforce this right.
7. Do not visit rooms of members of the opposite sex -- DAY OR NIGHT. No
mixed gender room visits are allowed. You may visit and “hang out” in the
lobby of the hotel.
8. Do not damage or misappropriate hotel property, which will create both a
delay in departure and a financial liability.
9. Do not change your bus assignment.
10. Do not smoke at any time.
11. Do not purchase inappropriate reading material or media.
12. Do not obtain any body piercings and/or tattoos.
13. Do not enter or ride in any unapproved motor vehicle. The only approved
motor vehicles are those provided by the tour director or local public
transportation. DO NOT attempt to drive ANY motor vehicle!
14. Do not drink alcoholic beverages at any time during your tour.
15. Do not engage in any drug-related activities during your tour. You are
forewarned that the use and/or possession of drugs in the U.S., on board an
aircraft and while abroad constitutes breaking the law and is punishable by
immediate imprisonment. Your teacher and tour director will not be able to
help any student who violates the law. Even U.S. Consular intervention will
not bring about the release of an offender.

Remember:
You are visiting foreign countries as a “Good-will Ambassador” of the United
States, and many of the people with whom you come in contact will have only
you and your group by which to judge us. While abroad, you may encounter a
number of customs which differ from what you are used to. At such times,
you’ll find that courteous and considerate behavior is appreciated by
everyone, and bridges many cultural differences.

Consequences:
Please be aware that any infraction of these rules is VERY SERIOUS and may
ultimately result in early termination of your trip. We don’t want that to
happen! Any first violation of rules 1-13 will cause us to immediately
telephone your parents (collect), and you will explain to them what you have
done. Additionally, you will be on probation. This means that you will be
seated on the bus with the chaperone to whom you have been assigned, and you
will spend all of your time with that chaperone until he/she determines that
you are again worthy of our trust and that you are not putting our trip at
risk in any way. After this warning, however, the next violation will cause
us to send you home at your parents’ expense. Any violation of rules 14 &
15 will result in your immediate departure for home. Please don’t put us in
the position of needing to do this.

my refusal to comply with such regulations. I agree that the tour director
and chaperones have the right to enforce such rules, standards, and
instructions, and that my participation in the program may at any time be
terminated in light of my failure to follow these regulations, the
instructions of my teachers, the tour director, or for any other reason which
the cooperating staff may deem to be in the best interest of the group.
I agree to being sent home at my own (or my parents’) expense and
waive the right to any refund of program fees.

	2) If I am expelled from school or otherwise disciplined by my
