I was born in a small town in the south of Italy and came to this country
when I was six years old. I had to learn English, but had some great
teachers who made it easy for me. I understand very well, then, what it
means to learn a new language as I had to do it again when my parents
brought me back to Italy just when I was starting high school.
I sympathize with my students but I also have a great bag of tricks at my
disposal to make it easier and interesting. I enjoy my work and my language
and my goal is to share that interest and enthusiasm with all my students.
My goal for all my classes is to help my students develop an appreciation of
how much fun it can be to be able to express yourself in another language,
and how interesting it is to understand how and why other people do things
in ways different from ours.
With the internet and rapid jet travel making the world a very small place,
it is essential that we learn to communicate with each other. The new
understanding that we acquire this way makes our lives richer.
Once language learners accept the different structures and ways of another
language and culture, they soon find that there are more similarities than
differences after all!
