INFORMED and CONNECTED

As we immerse ourselves in our second year as a PTO Executive Board, we'd like to challenge all of us in the high school community to stay INFORMED and CONNECTED. While our teens are pushing away from us as they emerge into young adults, it is important that we stay informed about issues that affect them in this time of rapid brain development and transition to adulthood.  We want to support our high schoolers as they pursue independence and more sophisticated thinking, but we also want to be a source of stability for them as they test uncharted waters. While our teens may be pushing away, it is more important than ever for us, as parents, to stay connected to one another in order to share resources and information, as well as offer mutual support as we all navigate the exhilarating and challenging ride of parenting teens. As your PTO Board, we hope to be facilitators in this process of being INFORMED and CONNECTED by sharing relevant information with you in our John Jay Parent Post/email communications, student and parent programs, and encouraging open, constructive dialogue in our PTO meetings and among the various members of the high school community.  We also rely on you to share your insights, ideas, and energy to help make good things happen for us all in the John Jay community.

We'd like to hear what you think! Please contact us at jjhspto@gmail.com.
