Dear Parents,
I have been having some issues with students who are unprepared for reading quizzes. Often times, students do not see reading as "homework", because there is no written component. Reading at home however, is a big part of class. Students who do not complete their reading assignments will find it difficult to participate in class. As a result, they will do poorly. In addition, missing even one night of reading can be detrimental because it can cause a student to fall farther behind, thus creating a snowball effect (Think of it this way: If I assign 10 pages on Tuesday and you do not do it, you will now have to read 20 pages on Wednesday to catch up!). It is imperative to the success of your child that you encourage them to read each night. I post the reading homework nightly. This weekend, the homework is to read pages 72-102 (Students were given the assignment yesterday, Thursday October 1st). Please email me or call if you are in any way concerned.
