I received my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and French from the University of
California at Davis. During my junior year in college I spent the year
studying in Madrid, Spain. After graduating, I obtained certification
to teach English as a Second Language and taught adults at a private
instituion in San Francisco for 2 1/2 years. Subsequently, I became
certified to teach Montessori education and taught 1st - 3rd grade for two
years. Having relocated to the Hudson Valley, I completed both my Master's
Degree in Education and my certification to teach Spanish at the secondary
level at SUNY New Paltz.
This is my ninth year at Ketcham and I love working with and exploring the
Spanish speaking world with the many new students I meet each year.
My primary goal is that my students have a positive and successful
experience learning Spanish, not only enabling them to complete their
requirements for either a Regular Regents or an Advanced Regents Diploma,
but also allowing them to enjoy their time in the classroom while gaining an
appreciation for the language and culture of the Spanish speaking world.
Finally, in an attempt to promote and maintain a positive learning
environment in the classroom, I will be continuing to actively incorporate
character development and training wherever and whenever appropriate.
