How will grading for the course work?

Homework, Vocabulary, Maps:  20% of a student's overall grade
Quizzes/ Chapter / Unit Tests/ Projects: 50% of a Student's overall grade 
Thematic / DBQ Essay      :  30% of a student's overall grade

Students get a grade for each quarter and for their final exam test.  Each 
quarter grade and final is worth 20% of a Student's final grade.  Students 
need a final grade over 65 to pass the class for the year. 

10th grade students need to pass the NYS Regents exam in order to get regents 
credits for graduation.

What is the homework policy?

Students will have homework that is due every friday. (Adjusted when a 
holiday falls on a friday)Homework will consist of reading the text book and 
answering chapter questions, review work, maps, vocabulary / Identification 
and finishing class assignments.  Students will get a list of assignments 
that will be due each quarter.  They will be notified in class daily and the 
weeks assignments will be posted in class.  NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED!!

Is there a Final at the end of the school year?

Yes.
    9th grade students take a final that counts as 20% of their overall 
average.  It is formatted like a regents exam and is taken under regents like 
conditions.  The 9th grade exam consists of material covered from Chapter 1 
to 17.

10th Grade students must take a regents exam which consists of both 9th grade 
and 10th grade material.  The test is a 3 hour exam and the test questions 
and material covered on the test is unknown to teachers and students until 
the time of the test.
