             the proposed $4.4 billion cuts to THIS YEARS current educational budget in our
             district.

An extremely important item discussed at the last meeting, was the recent newspaper articles outlining Gov. Paterson's proposal to cut back on state aid to education FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR! Obviously, if successful, this will have a huge, negative impact on our schools. We all know the economy is doing poorly, especially in New York state; however, we all need to contact our elected officials to let them know this is not a viable solution! I urge everyone to write a letter or to e-mail their "elected" representatives. If you're not sure who your representatives are or how to contact them, go to www.nyspta.org on the right hand side is a link called take action - click on it - scroll down and type in either your mailing address or 9 digit zip code, click on go, scroll down and the information will be there. I cannot stress enough how critical your support is on this issue. Please make the time, it is our children who will feel the brunt of this.
