About The Teacher

Hello! I'm Mrs. Flynn. This is my 12th year at Kings Elementary and my
third year teaching 5th grade. I've previously taught third grade, fourth
grade, and PIE 3/4.

My husband, Kevin, my 19-year-old son, Daniel, and I currently live in
Milford, PA (about an hour from Warwick). Kevin is the head custodian in
Tuxedo Union Free School District in NY. Daniel is beginning his second
year at Penn State in University Park, PA. He is interested in mechanical
engineering.

I enjoy hiking, running, gardening, reading, and most of all, teaching. I
consider myself very fortunate to get paid for what I LOVE to do!

This is my 7th year using a class website, and I'm hoping it will be of help
to you. If you have any comments or suggestions for this site, please feel
free to send an e-mail or note to me. The e-mail address listed is my
personal e-mail and I will be checking it at the end of the day when I get
home. I will do my best to reply within 24 hours. If you need to reach me
about something urgent, please call the school office at the number listed
above.

Please understand that the use of this site and the use of the educational
links within it is optional. I have checked all of the sites recommended
within the links section. These sites are periodically modified and updated
by the creators, so I strongly suggest that parents check out the sites
prior to using them with children. Additionally, children should always be
supervised by an adult when using the Internet.

Mission For The Class

"We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus
character--that is the goal of true education."
~~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The students are expected to stretch themselves academically and socially.
Each child will begin this school year in a unique place. This starting
point, no matter where it is, is perfect and acceptable. Over the course of
the year, progress will be made. Our class mission is to continually strive
for personal improvement and to be of service to others throughout our
educational journey.

In order for our children to take risks, it is essential that they feel
safe. Happy children learn. Therefore, it is critical that we bring our
best attitude and behavior with us each day. A positive environment is the
foundation for all success in the classroom.

As an educator, I am committed to being warm and caring while still demanding
quality effort socially, behaviorally, and academically. I promise to be
consistent and fair with consequences in order to provide a safe, predictable
environment with a solid foundation for learning.

PARENT-TEACHER PARTNERSHIP
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher:
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!

And each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!
